According to Microsoft, an event is a significant occurrence in the system or in a program that requires users to be notified, or an entry added to a log. Regular users couldn’t care less about these logs. But expert users and system administrators, on the other hand, want to access these logs. Leading developer of software security products for home and business users, FSPro Labs came up with an application that addresses the log viewing needs of expert users. That application is the appropriately named Event Log Explorer.

To enjoy the functionality Event Log Explorer has to offer, you will first have to download a 3.9MB archive onto your computer. Then you have to extract its contents, run the executable and go through the steps presented by the setup wizard. You will be done in very little time.

The sort of user who wants to access event logs cares more about functionality than looks. This doesn't mean that Event Log Explorer’s interface isn’t appealing; I am just trying to point out that it is focused on helping you get things done rapidly. You can quickly view the Windows event logs that interest you. All the reports Windows generated are there for your viewing pleasure. And to make it easy to browse through them all, they are grouped based on categories: Security, System, Application and other logs.

The functionality Event Log Explorer has to offer is meant for expert users, but its interface is easy enough so that regular and even novices won’t have any problems understanding how the application works. Regular users are well advised to check out some other applications from developer FSPro Labs, like Lock My PC, a tool that puts the computer on lockdown, and Hide Folders, a tool that hides and locks files and folders.

You can use Event Log Explorer for free on your Windows-powered computer for a period of 30 days. When the trial period expires, you will have to get a license to keep using Event Log Explorer.

Event Log Explorer offers expert users a very efficient way of viewing Windows event logs.

Pros

You won’t spend much time on downloading and installing the application. The interface is user friendly and easy to use. You can view, filter, search for, print and export Windows event logs.

Cons

Free to try for a period of 30 days.
